Today’s entry was suppose to be a restaurant review for Pizzeria Venti, but before I got down to business, I visited RSG’s blog (Her blog is on my bogroll; check it out!) only to read about Oregon putting a halt to their Domestic Partnership registration that was to begin January 1, 2008. I don’t know the details of the Oregon DP law or why it has been halted. I live in Washington State which lags behind Oregon on many social issues. While I root for the LGBT community in Oregon, I am jealous of the strides they have made. Our dream is to someday move to Western Oregon and continue farming and creating things for a population that appreciates “green” living and organic “slow food.” We secretly hope that the gays in Oregon will have things ready for us when we get there. Things like equal rights, lack of discrimination and of course marriage (or Domestic Partnership if that’s the only alternative). It’s sad to see how much time, work, and emotional diress has gone into a fight that only gets halted at the last minute. 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. It’s very frustrating even for me as a spectator.

Maybe instead of fighting for our rights, we should focus on fighting to remove these rights from legally married couples. If straight couples lost even one of these rights, there would be a uprising. Heterosexuals who oppose gay marriage argue that God and the Bible define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Why is any government (federal, state or local) involved in religous unions? Seperation of Church and State should cover that one pretty easily.
The LGBT community don’t get these rights (and responsibilities!) based on marriage as a religous union, yet married heterosexuals get them regardless of there religon or lack there of. Maybe atheists should be lumped in with the LGBT community as well. Agnostics too, for that matter. How about those who havn’t attended a Christian church in over, let’s say, 5 years? And the Buddists? They don’t follow Bible teachings. Oh, here’s a good one. You have to speak English to get married in the US, then we can get into the immigration issue, too. Oh and virgins! Doesn’t Christian teachings say there should be no sex before marriage? Can they test for virginity before allowing 2 peole that are madly in love to join in a holy union?
Either heterosexuals lose all the rights we wish to gain, or only English-speaking virgins should be allowed such priveledges as visiting their spouse in the hospital or making medical decisions for there incapacitated spouse instead of waiting for their sometimes-hostile in-laws to make those decisions for them.
Instead of fighting for our rights let’s fight against theirs!

ohhh how I have missed you all. Well all 3 of you who slink around reading my blog and not introducing yourself. I know you are out there. It’s OK to say hello.
Anyway here’s the deal. On November 30th we got our Charter Communications bill and like every time before the cost was more than the previous month. We had not added any new features to our service. In fact we went back to our original phone service provider because the cable based phone we used for the past year sucked! People told us we sounded like we were standing under rotating helicopter blades as we spoke to them on the phone. After our year commitment was up we sent back to using the big V- which is no picnic as far as customer service but at least we can use our h0me phone to communicate on. Back to Charter, our bill increased even with the loss of phone service by 68 dollars. I blew a gasket when I called to ask why and was not given a reasonable answer. I told them I wanted to cancel all service that they were currently supplying us (Internet and cable). You know what they did? Canceled it immediately! not in an hour or a day but before I even hung up the phone. Needless to say I started calling new providers that minute.
Today after nearly 20 days without Internet or television ( kiddos became basket cases) we are once again connected to the world. Of course we have new cable based drama brewing but I’ll save that story until we have an ending. Hopefully one that will not further destroy my confidence in humanity via large corporations. ugh.
Know what the first thing I did when my precious Internet connection was restored? I checked up on my favorite lesbian singer- Brandi Carlile who I found out won’t be playing in the Northwest at least through April. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Someday I’ll tell you that story too.

2 mentions of gays……neither answered with any compassion or open mindedness, but definitely answered with a fair amount of moral superiority. John McCain lost my respect with that one. Romney never had it.
No mention whatsoever about the environment. Plenty of talk about rounding up illegals and our right to bear arms. No mention that with rights come responsibilities. Ugh. I thought Giuliani would have brought that up with the question about written exams being required before obtaining a gun…. Bad move Rudy…don’t cower to their narrow (well narrower than yours) minds.
Still Giuliani is the best of the worst IMHO.
And what about a watching a group of old white men discussing inner city problems and a woman’s right to her own body…..
I can’t help but think that if Romney wins we all be looking back wishing for the good old days of our present buffoon.
Scary shit people, scary shit.

I don’t even care if it’s a girl. I don’t need the kind that snuggles me at night, buys me flowers, cleans my shoes after a little over indulgence, or lifts me when I am feeling lower than a snake’s belly.
I need a girlfriend to lunch with, go shopping with and to talk on the phone for hours while I do mundane household chores. Ugh!
Took Baby Boy ( who’s 12) out of school today for a dentist appointment. All day! Because I thought we could have some good mother/son time alone. I planned lunch at Subway (his fav) and shopping at Target (my fav) with Starbucks carmel apple ciders to sip while we browsed the new Christmas decorations. I also thought I might get a handle on what BB wants for Christmas besides a 36″ sword from the knife shop. But NOOOO, BB wanted to get home and eat PB&J and play Halo 3 until bedtime. I tried more bribing- we could look at video games, go to the pet store, maybe an early movie. Didn’t work, so here I am complaining with butt hurt feelings while he and his XBox Live buddies head shot each other into oblivion. Oblivion? I’m sure that’s next.
So- I need a girlfriend. Those interested please apply below. I live in Eastern WA. Lesbian housewives given special consideration.
